The
Decisive Issues conferences are yearly retreats for Spirit of David
members designed to instruct us in the Word for the season and allow
us assess club progress through the branches.
Each D.I has a theme
specifically received by God to chart the course of continued
success for the ministry. These themes reflect God's Word to both
SOD and the entire Body of Christ.
D.I. 2009's theme
was 'The Overcomer'. It was powerful! Right from the opening prayer
on Thursday night (which took a insightful look at Psalm 23) to the
early morning devotion on Sunday, Uyo played host to what - in the
CC's words - was the best yet!
Apart from powerful
prayer times, worship/praise sessions and an assault of God's
unchangeable Word, D.I. was also a time of dancing, physical
exercise and games.
A mock or Sponta
Takes 2 was held with pairings being made from 'a hat'. The eventual
winners (from the 8 different couples who eventually participated)
were Marvis (Uyo branch) and Jerry (Lagos branch)! Congrats!!
The winners of the
grueling endurance test (that this year included, cross country
running, push ups, chin-ups on a 9-foot bar, sit ups and sprints)
Thomas Erastus was
crowned the Iron Man. He hails from Calabar branch. As impressive as
he was, if there to be any prizes taken home, it should have gone to
Jessica Obot! She not only won the female section, she single
handedly won two events for her branch (she's the Ife branch
coordinator - Great Ife!!!)
The East faced the
West in their 5th football face off. In all previous ocassions the
West has prevailed over the East. This year....was no different!
After a brace from the CC and a goal from Dipo Olusesin (Lagos
branch), the East had only themselves to blame as the match saw the
West win 3-2!
In other games, the
Weakest Link was won by Temi Oki (coordinator of Ado branch).
